A JOINER is jumping for joy — after he and his fiancée won their dream wedding.

Loved-up Danny Oxtoby has spent the last two weeks frantically raising as much charity cash as possible in a bid to win a £20,000 wedding with his sweetheart Rebecca Mcloughlin.

And the frenetic fortnight came to a breathtaking end yesterday, when the couple discovered they had won — live on Key 103 radio, which organised the competition.

Danny, aged 25, of Little Lever and Rebecca, aged 24, of Bury, raised more than £13,000 for the Cash4Kids and beat their five rival couples. The contest raised £34,000 for the Manchester-based charity.

"It's been a rollercoaster fortnight. Neither of us can quite believe we have won," said Danny, who proposed to Rebecca while they were enjoying a romantic holiday in the Dominican Republic in mid 2013.

He added: "We have been working so hard with the fantastic support of many people and, in one respect, I'm glad it's all over — but now we can start planning all the fun."

The prize includes to a wedding fair in Manchester for Danny and Rebecca, their own glamorous wedding at Mottram Hall in Cheshire, plus dresses, rings, a photographer, singer and DJ for the day, flowers, decorations and invitation stationery.

Rebecca, who is a speech and language therapist at Tameside Hospital, said: "We are just a normal couple who work really hard and are trying to save to buy a house.

"We want to be traditional and get married before we have children but with wedding prices the way they are there is no way we can afford our dream day any time soon.

"When we saw the competition on Twitter we thought why not, and now to be down to the final six couples is brilliant."

Danny and Liverpool-born Rebecca, have been together for eight years after meeting as teenagers.

After living apart in their respective home towns and then when Rebecca went to university in Newcastle, the couple moved into a home in Bury together two years ago.

Danny added: "It will be amazing to get wed to the girl I love."

To win the competition, the couple held a race night in Little Lever, netball and football tournaments, a poker night, charity race night and roller disco as well as packing bags at B&M in Bury.

Danny climed the equivalent of Ben Nevis with his groomsmen, and a bridesmaid and groomsman completed a 60km bike ride.
