MOTORISTS are being urged to take extra care on the roads today, following rain overnight and a weather warning for snow and ice later.

The weather conditions could bring difficult driving conditions, so motorists are being asked to take extra precautions.

An accident on the northbound carriageway of the M61 between Junction 6 at Horwich and Junction 8 at Chorley is currently causing delays.

Commuters may also be affected by a two car crash on the M60 clockwise at the Heaton Park roundabout.

An accident on the M60 clockwise between Junction 17 at Whitefield and Junction 18 at Simister Island is also causing delays.

There are reports of slow moving traffic on the southbound carriageway of the M61 between Junction 4 at Farnworth and Junction 3 at the Kearsley Spur.

Some more minor congestion which may affect commuters in and out of Bolton is on the westbound carriageway of the M62, with slow traffic between Junction 20 at Rochdale and Junction 18 of the M60 at Simister Island.

In addition, drivers heading into Bolton on the A666 will likely face delays because of the continuing bridge repair works on Raikes Lane.
