A CAR flipped upside down after smashing into a tree.
The vehicle was left on its roof when the occupant allegedly fled the scene.
The white hatchback was abandoned with the battered passenger door half open, the lights still on and obvious damage to the offside front corner.
It happened in Blackburn Road at around 11.40pm on Tuesday.
A woman, who is believed to have been the occupant of the car, was later arrested in the A&E department of Royal Bolton Hospital after walking from the scene.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "The woman was arrested at the hospital for driving, or being in charge, when under influence of drink or drugs.
"Our investigations are still on going."
