A BOLTON Wanderers fan has promised to have a Wigan Athletic tattoo – if he raises more than £1,000 for charity.

Andrew Bowling, aged 31, has organised a family fun day in support of youngster Tyler Richardson.

The eight-year-old, from Kearsley, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2011, a condition which results in muscle degeneration and an average age expectancy of 25.

Tyler will eventually become confined to a wheelchair and will have to rely on a breathing apparatus.

In order to help valuable research into the condition, friends of Tyler and his family have raised £15,000 for charity Duchenne Now.

To raise further funds, a charity football competition will be held at Breightmet Football Club on Sunday and a justgiving page has been set up with a £1,000 target.

Mr Bowling said: "I am a massive Bolton Wanderers fan but I have said that if we hit our target amount this weekend then I will get a Wigan Athletic tattoo. I want to raise the money, but I wish I hadn't said I would get the tattoo. But if at the final whistle there is £1,000 in that just giving page I will."

The football match will be between four areas in Bolton; Halliwell, Breightmet Farnworth and Bolton over 35's.

There will also be face painting, a bouncy castle, a tombola stall and barbecue on the day, which will run from noon until late.

Friend Glenn McGreavy, aged 32, said: "People have been very generous. The owner of bar Downtown in Bolton has paid for the bouncy castle on the day. We do want to raise money but this event is more of a thank you to people's generosity so far."

The event is free and will be held at the Bolton Road venue.
