TWO people have suffered burns in a house fire in Hall i’th’ Wood this morning.

Three fire engines from Bolton North and Bolton central were called to a semi-detached house in Crompton Way at 6.15am but the fire, which started in the bedroom, was out by the time of their arrival.

Station Manager Craig Pinder, who attended the incident, said: “When the fire crew arrived the fire was already out, a man and woman were treated for slight burns.

“Our investigations indicate that the fire was started by an unattended candle and we urge people to take extra care when using them.”

North West Ambulance Service took one person to Royal Bolton Hospital.

David Acton, Chairman of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, added: “We want to remind people to never leave a candle unattended and to remember to extinguish before you go to sleep.

“Candles should never be played with and be kept well out of reach of children or pets, and if there is a room where you usually burn candles, consider adding an extra smoke alarm in that room.”
