BOLTON bakers Greenhalgh's were stars of the small screen again as part of a debate about Brexit.

The BBC Breakfast show broadcast a debate about the implications of Britain's decision to leave the European Union from Greenhalgh's in Lostock yesterday morning.

Presenter Steph McGovern grilled a panel of Greenhalgh's employees, including staff not born in Britain, as well as the bakery's managing director David Smart who believes Brexit will not affect his company.

Mr Smart said: "It was good, the cameras were here all morning and we had a good debate. They spoke to a mix of our staff, male and female and those who voted for and against. I think its all hogwash. The sun comes up everyday and we need to get the orders out, and that's it.

"It might be different for others, but it won't make any difference for Greenhalgh's at all."

The latest appearance comes after Mr Smart appeared on ITV's This Morning last month, making a memorable appearance in defence of bread after it was claimed people were avoiding it to keep thin.

Viewers even demanded that Mr Smart be given his own show, and the bakery boss has since had discussions with TV producers about the idea.
