MEN armed with a machete held up a cash delivery to a post office this morning – escaping with a quantity of money.
The raid happened at 9.35am at the New Bury Post Office in George Street.
A spokesperson from the Post Office said the incident happened on the roadside and no one was hurt.
They added: "The vehicle was a Post Office van which got attacked.
"Everyone here is okay, just a bit shaken.
"We could not not see what happened on the CCTV except the van driver run off then a car driving away.
"We don't what they got away with."
People in the area at the time said they did not see the incident but saw police visiting the store.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called at 9.35am to reports of an armed robbery just outside the post office.
“Two men approached a man making a delivery while he was still outside of the shop.
“They took a quantity of cash.”
The man carrying the machete wore what police described as an ‘open face’ ski mask and dark clothing.
The second man wore a grey top and black trousers.
It’s understood that the offenders escaped in a car.
