BOLTON’S newest Aldi supermarket is set to open its doors to the public next week.

The German retail giant will open its new store in Breightmet Fold Lane, Breightmet, from 8am on Thursday with a special ribbon cutting ceremony.

The store has been built on the site of the former Mecca Bingo Breightmet site, and will be joined by new retail units including a Poundworld Plus, which will also open next week.

To celebrate the opening of the new store, Aldi has sponsored the kits of local football team Breightmet Wanderers Under 8s and the squad will be alongside store manager Suzanne Eldred in their new gear to cut the ribbon on the day.

Aldi bosses have also pledged to donate a range of products to the nearby Castle Hill Young People Centre to support its community activities.

The shop will cover a space of 1,140 sq m and will offer customers over 1,500 product lines including fresh produce and a range of weekly ‘Specialbuys’.

Ms Eldred said: “The team and I are really looking forward to opening our new Bolton store, and with some great opening week deals on offer in store, we’re expecting a busy opening day.

“We’re pleased to be supporting the U8s Breightmet Wanderers team, and we hope their new kits bring them success this season.”

Following its opening, the store will open from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 10pm and on Sundays between 10am and 4pm.

Aldi is investing substantially in Bolton having recently opened a new food distribution centre in Westhoughton.

The German firm is also one of the key names to launch centres at the Logistics North development in Over Hulton, creating a new distribution hub, store and academy.
