MURDER detectives examining the death of man whose badly burned torso was in a suitcase have asked Greater Manchester Police to supply a list of missing people.

The headless and limbless body was found inside black Samsonite luggage in a lay-by off the A628 near Tintwistle on October 10. Police believed it was dumped between 9pm and midnight the previous day.

Analysis of the body revealed he was aged between 18 and 40 with white or light-coloured skin and was probably between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 11ins tall.

Derbyshire Constabulary want anyone to come forward if they have a friend, colleague, neighbour or relative matching the description of the victim who they have not seen in recent weeks.

Assistant Chief Constable Bill McWilliam said: “We have still not been able to identify the man. He could have gone missing from anywhere in the country but simply hasn’t been reported missing by those who know him.”
