YOUNG apprentice Tyrone Daniels is on track to achieve his dream career – working with animals.

Tyrone, aged 19, from Great Lever, has secured a Bury College Animal Care level three apprenticeship and can be found at Pimhole Community Farm in Bury looking after all types of animals, from donkeys to alpacas, goats to pigs.

The former Essa Academy pupil is also responsible for treating and nursing animals who require medicine and antibiotics as well as completing their health record cards.

As part of his apprenticeship, Tyrone has shadowed and assisted the vet who introduced him to the theory behind veterinary science.

Tyrone said that he was delighted with his new role.

He said: ”I love animals so having the opportunity to work with them every day and get paid for doing it is great!

“I find my job really rewarding, especially looking after sick animals and nursing them back to their full health.”

As part of his apprenticeship Tyrone will also be instructing and supervising the level one animal care students. Martin Wilcox, Bury College Animal Care Placement Co-ordinator added: “Tyrone will be able to progress into a wide range of animal care related professions.”
