THE FATHER of former Bolton Wanderers’ player Gary Speed, who was found hanged, says he is certain his son was not a victim of paedophile coach Barry Bennell.
The ex-Wales football manager, who died five years ago yesterday, was trained by coach and scout Bennell as a child and even stayed at his house.
But Bennell has denied abusing Speed and the player’s father, Roger Speed, told the Daily Telegraph he was convinced his son was not been a victim.
The footballing world remembered Mr Speed on the anniversary of his death with Bolton Wanderers tweeting a picture of him and Ryan Giggs filming an emotional tribute to his Welsh teammate for Wales Online website.
