THE Bolton headquarters of Greater Manchester charity Carers Trust has been declared a centre of excellence.

The award follows an inspection by the national Carers Trust Quality Team and is the highest quality level that can be given.

It is one of only four centres of excellence in the north west and the first in Greater Manchester.

Carers Trust is an independent local charity, based at Thicketford House in Tonge Moor.

The charity specialises in supporting carers, including young carers, their families and loved ones who require social care support in their own homes.

CEO Paul Parlby said he was delighted with the news.

He said: “We’re really proud of the new award which will give carers even greater confidence in the quality of services they can expect from us.”

The team celebrated the news by tucking into a specially-made cake.
