A MOTHER is appealing for witnesses after she was punched in the head by a man who tripped over the wheel of her pram.

Natalie Jones, aged 39, said the attack happened in Spa Road, Bolton, in view of several other pedestrians and she wants people to come forward to the police.

It happened at 1.30pm on Thursday, November 17, when Ms Jones had cut through Queens Park en route to a doctor’s appointment half an hour later.

She was pushing her son, aged two, and her grandson, who is nearly one, in the pram as she crossed the road at the same time as the man.

She said: “We got to the pavement on the other side at the same time and he was right in front of me and he tripped over the front wheel of my pram.

“He turned round and said: What are you doing?

“He ranted away at me for 10 seconds then punched me and went to push my pram into the road — although I stopped it.

“He had punched me on the side of the head near the temple and it’s now bruised. I was crying. He said: ‘I don’t care. You have just assaulted me with the wheel of the pram’.

“I was asking people for help and they just stood there.

“It was a really bad situation. I was shocked at what he had done.” Ms Jones followed the man past Bolton Bus Station because she happened to be heading the same way en route to her GP’s practice.

She had to stop tailing him when he approached the rear of Bolton Town Hall in Le Mans Crescent in the town centre as she needed to head in a different direction.

When she arrived at the surgery, the receptionist saw she was in a state and telephoned police.

Ms Jones, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, said: “The man shrugged and walked off. He didn’t care what he had just done. There were quite a few people who saw what happened but were a bit scared to intervene.”

The man was wearing a bright Ellesse jacket and blue jeans. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
