Champagne thief jailed

A CHAMPAGNE thief has been jailed for four weeks after appearing before Bolton magistrates.
Kelsey Brown, aged 20, of Tamar Grove, Leigh, pleaded guilty to stealing the alcohol and meat worth £110 from Sainsbury's in Bolton on November 16.
Brown also admitted assaulting two men and a woman and obstructing a police officer.
The court ordered Brown to pay the three victims she assaulted £100 each in compensation.

Serial thief and burglar is jailed

A PROLIFIC burglar and serial thief has been jailed for a total of 14 weeks.
Terence Hargreaves, of Worston Avenue, Johnson Fold, admitted several offences and was sentenced at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to burgling a McColl’s store in Bolton and accessing the till area on October 17 and to stealing an iPad, worth £199.99, from a man on April 29 in Bolton.
He also admitted stealing £50 worth of meat from Aldi in Bury on September 8.
Hargreaves, aged 44, committed the crimes while subject to suspended prison sentences imposed for a spate of shoplifting offences in which alcohol and clothing was stolen.
Magistrates chose to activate those sentences – noting he was responsible for “prolific theft offences” and had “tested positive for drugs”. It meant he was jailed for a cumulative 14 weeks.

Man in court over Taser

A MAN has appeared in court after admitting possessing a Taser.
Irfan Kathrada, of Hudson Close, Daubhill, was sentenced after changing his plea at Bolton Magistrates’ Court to two counts of possession, on March 17, of an offensive weapon — a Taser and six containers of pepper spray.
The 39-year-old received a 12-week community order with a 7am-to-7pm monitored curfew and must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £200 costs.

Woman admits driving charge

A MOTORIST has been fined £266 for driving without due care and attention. Tracey Dallimore, aged 30, of Church Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court to committing the offence in Wigan Road, Wigan, on June 6 while driving a Citroen D3.
At Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court she was fined £266 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Drink driver’s 22-month ban

A MERCEDES driver who was caught drink driving has been banned from holding a licence for 22 months.
Zahid Khan, aged 38, of Leigh Lane, Horwich, admitted driving whilst over the legal alcohol in Wigan Road, Wigan, of November 11. Wigan and Leigh magistrates also fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Driver, aged 70, fined £230

A PENSIONER has been fined £230 after being found guilty of driving without due care and attention.
Alan Haslam, aged 70, of Wigan Road, Bolton, had denied committing the offence whilst driving a VW Passat on Wigan Road, Deane, on May 9.
But at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court he was found guilty.
In addition to to the fine, he was ordered to pay £500 prosecution costs and five penalty points were added to his licence.

Drink driver banned for two years 

A DRINK-driver has been banned from holding a licence for two years.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court, Margaret Horrocks, aged 56, of Cloverdale Square, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on November 5 while driving a Volkswagen Up on Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
The court heard that she had consumed more than twice the legal level of alcohol, giving a reading of 97 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
In addition to the driving ban, Horrocks was fined £515.
She was also ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs plus a £51 victim surcharge.

Driver fined and banned for a year

A MOTORIST has been banned for a year and fined more than £1,000.
Christopher Miles, aged 29, drove a Fiat Punto without due care and attention in Market Street, Farnworth, on September 7. He also failed to stop and had no insurance.
The offences were proved in his absence at Bolton Magistrates’ Court. Magistrates noted his offending was “aggravated by speed, the motorway and he had consumed some alcohol”. He was fined a total of £1,320 and banned from driving for 12 months.
Miles, of Dollond Street, Blackley, must pay a £66 victim surcharge and £125 court costs.

Door damage man in court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for six months after he admitted damaging a door worth £100 on August 20.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Luke Cowle, aged 25, of no fixed address, was also ordered to pay £105 in prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.

Court fines uninsured driver

AN UNINSURED driver has been fined £191 after being caught driving without due care and attention.
Bolton magistrates heard how Joshua Mitchum, aged 25, of Springfield Street, Bolton, committed the offence on June 9 when he was driving a Kia Picanto on Bark Street, Bolton.
He pleaded guilty to careless driving and having no insurance.
The court also ordered him to pay £300 compensation as well as £115 in prosecution costs and victim surcharge.

Store ban for shoplifter

A THIEF has been banned by a court from entering any Game store in Greater Manchester for 12 months after admitting shoplifting.
Bolton Magistrates’ Court heard how Zachary Gaffey, aged 25, of Rosthorne Gardens, Bolton, stole electronic equipment worth £900 from the Bolton Game store on June 10.
The court also ordered Gaffey to undertake 10 days of rehabilitation activities and told him he must also pay £900 in compensation to the store.
