A SHOPPING centre held special sessions to channel children’s creativity – to mark next month's release of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast.

Market Place Bolton held its ‘Little Rascals Kids Club’, taking inspiration from the much loved Disney classic in eager anticipation of the live action adaptation.

The event included mask making and teacup decorating on the Saturday, while on the Sunday, children could enjoy themselves by decorating candles and making wooden spoon puppets.

Nicola Welsh, events manager at Market Place, said the event encourages children to develop their creative skills and make new friends.

She added: “It’s a fun, free workshop where the children can make their own masks of characters.

“They can also paint their own cups and saucers that they can take home, put in the oven and then keep for life.

“It’s been a really good day, we have been busy from when we opened at 11am and we’ve not stopped.

“It’s nice that the children can do something they can take home, and many families said they have come into the centre especially for this today.”

The Asif family, from Great Lever, were one group who enjoyed the craft stall.

Abdullah, aged 12, said: “It’s good doing arts and crafts, we had a really good day.

“I like doing creative things.”

Mum Amra, aged 37, who also brought Abdullah’s two sisters Hafsah, aged 10, and Hiba, 3, said: “It’s good to have things like this to do with the children.

“I think there should be more things like this, it is good for families.”
