SCHOOL may be out but that no excuse for primary schools youngsters to carry on learning outside the classroom.

Bolton Council has put on a whole range of fun activities to keep children occupied and give them plenty to talk about when they go back to school.

Today children can enjoy stepping back into Tudor times at Hall i’th’ Wood from 1pm to 3pm, where they can make a pomander or try their hand at quill writing.

Cost is just £1 and there is no need to book.

The Tudor theme continues at Smithills Hall on Friday between 1pm and 3pm, where children will have a chance to try on costumes of the day before taking to the dance floor for some 16th century dancing.

There will also be Tudor games, object handling and a Henry VIII trail. Cost is £1 per child.

Today youngsters will be able to watch creatures of the deep being fed at 1pm before going off to make their very own stingray.

Tomorrow, there will be a Cinema at the Crescent holiday special film, with the showing of The Secret Life of Pets in lecture theatre one at Bolton Library. The film is free and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The fish feed returns on Thursday at 1pm in Bolton Aquarium, situated underneath the library and museum building and children can have a look at some incredible insect specimens before making their own caterpillars and butterflies.

Throughout the half-term Bolton Library is celebrating its new ‘Animals and Us’ exhibition and children are invited to enter the “Amazing Animals and Mythical Beasts” quiz.

Entries should be handed in at the in at the Children’s Library by Sunday to be in with the chance of winning a prize.

Westhoughton Library is holding a Dino-Day on Thursday from 2pm to 3pm. Children can listed to stories and make their own T-REx mask.
