BIG-hearted youngsters donned their red noses with pride as they raised money for Comic Relief.

Schools in Bolton showed their support for the marathon fundraiser by organising a host of activities.

Gaskell Primary’s School Council put on everything from cake sales to creating amazing designs and pictures out of small change, which was then donated to Comic Relief.

Hayley Peacock, who runs the school council and the science lead, said: “It has been a hectic but fantastic day.

“The School Council thought of ideas on how to raise money and they organised a cake sale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with some of the cakes being homemade.

“They sold 400 red noses and they came up with an idea to bring in one pence, two pence and five pence pieces which they used to design patterns.

“We had balloons, faces a volcano, which children were studying and the school logo which was phenomenal.

“I led an assembly about Comic Relief and the children understand what they were raising money for — with some giving more than 20p for their cake.”

Now next week older children will be counting up how much they raised for Comic Relief.

At St Matthew’s CE Primary School in Halliwell, children swapped their uniform for all things red and wore their red noses to help people at home and abroad.
