A WOMAN recently bagged herself a supermarket sweep around a discount store.

Joanne Barker, from Heaton, entered a national competition with Johnstone’s Paint and B&M after buying a tin of paint at the B&M store in Manchester Road.

The 40-year-old won the chance to take part in a trolley dash around the shop on Tuesday, where she scooped £1,000 worth of products.

Mrs Barker frantically pushed the trolley around the aisles, grabbing products from the shelves as she went, while her family and friends cheered her on from the sidelines.

Among the many items she collected were homewares, a television and electrical goods.

Joanne, said: “When I first won the trolley dash I couldn’t believe it – I never win anything. Taking part in it was so much fun, I was really nervous but still managed to grab everything I wanted.

“I love shopping in B&M anyway and we’ve just decorated our kitchen and living room so I’ve grabbed a lot of stuff to help us.

"You’re always guaranteed to get more for your money in B&M but a £1000 has went an extremely long way – I can’t believe how much stuff I’ve got.”

Store manager Vikki Skillen said: “We’ve loved hosting B&M’s third trolley dash. The atmosphere in store was fantastic and we’re really pleased that we’ve been able to help Joanne get everything she needs to kit out her home.”

Debbie Henderson from PPG, which owns Johnstone's Paint, said: “Johnstone’s Paints would like to congratulate Joanne on being the third winner of our trolley dash competition.

“Joanne has recently decorated both her living room and kitchen using our products so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help her finish off her home.

“She flew around the store picking up so many items, it was amazing to see the excitement it has brought to both her and her family.”
