THE driver of a high-powered 4x4 vehicle is believed to have fled the scene having crashed on the wrong side of the road.
The Audi Q7 crashed some time before 4am on Thursday in Belmont Road, Belmont, Lancashire.
Fire crews from Bolton North and Bolton Central fire stations were called.
Upon arriving, they found the vehicle abandoned, but locked.
Firefighters had to smash the Audi’s windows to make sure nobody was inside.
Because the driver was not present, the fire crews could not confirm if there had been any casualties.
Witnesses told firefighters that the driver fled the scene in another vehicle which was driving behind it.
Anybody with any information should call police on 101.
