PLANNING bosses threw out an application to extend the time limit for work to start on the site of Bolton Open Golf Club in Harwood.

The applicants applied to extend the “commencement condition” to knock down the clubhouse, which has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour from 12 months to three years to address other issues as well as make it attractive to potential developers.

Cllr Jacqueline Radcliffe, who lives in Harwood, made a plea for planning bosses to reject the application.

She said: “Most of the objectors believe that even if this application is approved the developer will not proceed with building, but wait hoping for a change in the green belt status that will allow them to apply for more properties to be built on the site.”

Cllr Stuart Haslam added that the quality of life was being affected. Cllr Andy Morgan, said the anti-social issue in the area was affecting the whole of Bolton with police and fire resources being tied up in that area.
