A POPULAR miniature railway is back on track.

The much-loved attraction in Moss Bank Park, which first opened more than 30 years ago, has been refurbished since suspending business last August.

The railway has been managed by Scott Harrison and his wife, Jayne, for the past seven years.

Mrs Harrison said: “It was a really good day.

"Around 400 people came down before the heavens opened at about 2pm.

"There was a huge flash of lighting followed by thunder and I think a lot of people made a dash to their cars at that point.

"So the day finished earlier than we expected, which was a shame but you can't control the weather.

"We're really glad to be back up and running and I've been told lots of people have been asking since last year where we'd gone.

"It was definitely the busiest attraction in the park."

The refurbishment was completed with the assistance of volunteers, who completed painting and repairs.

To mark the occasion families enjoyed a fun day on Saturday, with a chance to ride the train and enjoy face-painting, fairground rides, and a bouncy castle.

The railway will be open every weekend and during the school holidays.
