A WOMAN travelling in a black cab was thrown from her seat in a crash because she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Fire crews, paramedics and the police attended the crash that took place at the junction of Beaumont Road and Chorley New Road at around 9pm yesterday.

The taxi was travelling from Bolton to Horwich with a 'young lady' in it, Bolton Central watch manager Ian Reed said.

Because of the poor weather conditions, another car did not see the taxi and pulled out in front of it.

Mr Reed said that the passenger was flung forward and headbutted the rail in front of her.

The woman suffered severe cuts to the face and also suffered cuts to her legs.

Mr Reed said: "She was sent to Bolton hospital. She was in a lot of pain.
"She was conscious and alert, she was just in a lot of pain and sore.

"Police are investigating the scene.

"Especially in taxis, black cabs, get your seatbelt on."

Fire crews were at the scene for around one hour.
