A MICRO pub could be created at the site of a former fashion shop in Horwich.

Plans for the scheme at what used to be Just Boutique at 174-176 Chorley New Road were submitted to Bolton Council earlier this month by Michael Ross.

The application to change the property's use from a shop to a pub recently went before Horwich Town Council's planning committee, which voted to recommend the proposal for approval.

Cllr Marie Brady said: "I think this is great for Horwich. I have even heard people describing the town as the new Didsbury."

The planned opening hours for the businesses would be 10am to 10pm, with trading hours for the sale of alcohol from 10am until 9pm, which is in line with the licensing application that was submitted to Bolton Council.

Greater Manchester Police made a number of recommendations including a new CCTV system inside the premises that should be capable of monitoring the doorways and all inside spaces including the bar and the proposed function room area.

They also recommended that 'dusk till dawn' lighting be installed above all external doors and that staff areas are access controlled and off limits to customers.
