ACTION to clean up a mound of rubbish that has been dumped outside homes is being demanded by councillors.

The eyesore has appeared outside a property Victory Road, Little Lever, which is being converted into two houses of multiple occupancy.

Cllr Sean Hornby says that builders are dumping their rubbish in the front yard of the house and that residents are fed up with the mess.

He said: “It was used as a big house a few years ago and the people there absolutely wrecked it.

“When I arrived on the council, I said that enough was enough and we went through the process of removing those people from the house.

“When a developer submitted a planning application last year, they said there would be no more problems.

“But now residents are having to put up with all of this rubbish.

“Instead of getting rid of the rubbish properly, builders are just dumping it outside — and that then leads to more fly-tipping on top of that.”

Planning permission was granted earlier this year for London-based developer Clifton Park Residential Limited to go ahead with the property conversion.

Cllr Hornby has now contacted council officers, who are now investigating the incident, and urged them to take enforcement action against the owners of the property.

The Bolton UKIP leader added: “It has become a real health and safety issue.

“Whoever is dumping that rubbish does not give a damn about the local community and the nearby residents.

“The people living around this area deserve far better.”

A council spokesman said: “We understand local residents’ frustration — we are investigating what has happened and will be contacting the owners.”

The landowner was not available for comment.
