Health bosses are urging people in Bolton to be prepared in advance of the Summer Bank Holiday.

NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group has published advice on health matters and a list of pharmacy opening times for August 26 to 28.

CCG clinical director for commissioning said: “A bank holiday can be a welcome break for us all and we all want to make the most of it.

“Make sure you’re well prepared and know where to go if a member of the family is injured or unwell.  Lots of health problems can be easily dealt with at home, or there is your local pharmacy for over the counter medicines and advice.

“Please remember that our A&E department is for serious or life threatening conditions only.  If you go along with something more minor, you may be advised to use another NHS service.”

Bolton’s pharmacists offer health advice without an appointment and can recommend over the counter medicines for common illnesses such as diarrhoea, headaches, coughs and colds, and bites and stings.

The GP out of hours service will also be available all weekend, including Monday.  The contact number is given out on the answerphone message for all Bolton GP practices.
