A YOUNG woman has been left amazed by the response to a campaign raising for a homeless man who spent two days trying to reunite her with her bag.

As reported, Daisy Owen has launched a campaign to help put a roof over the head of a homeless man called Paul, after he found her bag when she lost it on a night out.

He spent all of last weekend making sure that Miss Owen got her bag back, going around Bolton town centre to try and find her.

An old school friend told Miss Owen that someone was looking for her and she raced into town where Paul reunited her with her bag.

In response to his kindness she launched a GoFundMe campaign and has now raised £1,400 for Paul.

Her original target was £500 but she now hopes to raise £2000 to help Paul.

On Wednesday night Miss Owen, from Breightmet, headed into town to meet up with Paul and let him know what has gone on.

She said: "My phone died three times yesterday because it was blowing up with people getting in touch.

"I found Paul last night. I had a talk with him about what he wanted to do with the money. He wants to get a house. He wants to get a flat and use that towards it.

"We're doing really well.

"He was walking around with a copy of The Bolton News in his pocket. He said he feels like a celebrity."

When Paul found the bag, he was concerned that another homeless person would take it and try and steal from it or sell the contents and also that if the police saw him with it they would think he stole it.

He rushed back to the hostel where he was staying and wrote a letter so that if anyone asked him why he had the bag he could show them what his intentions were.

Miss Owen, aged 20, said that the fundraising has gone beyond her expectations and more than 2,000 people have now shared her original Facebook post.

Donations have flooded in from the UK and further afield and she is even set to go on the television news,

Miss Owen is trying to get some of the money released to get Paul cleaned up and also some new clothes.

He also wants to get his daughter a gift as it is her ninth birthday.

Miss Owen said: "I'm over the moon and I think he is as well.

"I have upped the target to £2,000. Anything above that will be amazing."
