GRANTS are being offered to community groups which want to raise awareness of hate crime.

The Bolton Be Safe Partnership, which includes Bolton Council and GMP, has a fund of up to £15,000 to support local groups in raising awareness of hate crime and encouraging discussion about it.

Community groups can apply for funding to hold an awareness-raising activity or public event during Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week in February 2018, or to deliver a longer term project.

A showcase of previous hate crime awareness projects will be held at Bolton CVS, in Bold Street, tomorrow at 10.30am, where people can also get more information about the scheme.

Alternatively, to find out more about how to apply and the scheme go to www.boltoncvs.org.uk/hatecrimeawarenessgrants or contact Mark Grundy on 01204 546010

Cllr Derek Burrows, cabinet member for community safety said: “Hate crime is completely unacceptable and we are working with our partners to end it completely."
