PETER Kay is going on tour and fans can expect gags about everything from Twitter to Donald Trump.

The comedian, from Bolton, is returning to the stage with his first live stand-up tour in eight years.

He made the announcement this morning and tickets go on sale at 10am on Sunday.

The arena tour kicks off in April next year and includes four dates at the Manchester Arena on June 4, 5, 6 and 9.

He said: “I really miss it. I know how lucky I am to be making television series and have really loved these past few years working on Car Share but I miss doing stand-up.

“As terrifying as it is, when it works, there's nothing more fun and exciting. Plus, a lot has happened in the last eight years, with Trump, Twitter and my nan getting her front bush trimmed at the age of 96. I can't wait to get back up on stage.”

Peter’s last tour was in 2010 and played to more than 1.2 million people — officially ranking in the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest-selling comedy tour of all time.

Tour dates are for 2018 are Birmingham Genting Arena on April 21 and 22; Glasgow SSE Hydro, May 14 and 15; Manchester Arena, June 4, 5, 6 and 9; London O2, September 13, 15 and 20 and Leeds First Direct Arena, on October 2.

In 2019, he will be at Belfast SSE Arena, on January 13 and 14; Nottingham Motorpoint Arena, January 23 and 24; Dublin 3 Arena, February 1 and 2; Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, February 11 and 12; Sheffield FlyDSA Arena, March 4 and 5 and
