THE inquest into the death of a woman who died as a result of hanging has been opened.
Andrea Jones, aged 46, was found dead by family members at her home in Hazel Avenue, Prestolee, on January 18.
A hearing was held at Bolton Coroners Court yesterday afternoon and was attended by her mother Christine and her daughter Amber.
Police coroner's officer Nicola Boyes told the inquest the circumstances of Ms Jones' death.
She said: "Ms Jones had a history of depression and suicide attempts.
"On January 18 she was found in her home address by members of her family.
"Paramedics attended but she was pronounced dead. At 9.50pm she was identified by her sister."
Alan Walsh, area coroner for Manchester West, revealed the pathologist had given a preliminary cause of death of 1A hanging following a post-mortem.
The inquest was adjourned for a pre-inquest review to allow the coroners office to gather witness statements.
It will be resumed at Bolton Coroners Court on Thursday, May 10.
