A SIXTH form music teacher has every reason to blow his own trumpet.

For Bolton Sixth Form College's Matthew Routley, who plays the tuba, is celebrating success with his brass band, the world famous The Black Dyke Band.

The band recently competed and won at the Yorkshire Area Contest.

More than 50 brass bands competed at the event.

The contest is the regional qualifier for the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall in October.

The Black Dyke Band have been winners for the last two years and have recently claimed a hat-trick of victories, the first time this has been done since the 1970s.
