A WARNING has been issued by the fire service after crews were called to yet another 'nuisance' fire at a derelict school building.
Crews were called to a pile of rubbish that had been set alight within the grounds of the old Birtenshaw School site in Bromley Cross at about 8pm on Tuesday.
It follows several 'nuisance call-outs' to the Darwen Road site in the last few months after youths set fire to piles of rubbish and pieces of wood.
Firefighters were called to a blaze at nearby Holland Gardening Centre at about 9pm on Saturday.
Watch manager Craig Cubbins, from Bolton North Fire Station, said: "Youths have been going in and out of the site. This is causing a nuisance.
"We had to extinguish the fire and ensure no one was harmed. We were in attendance for 30 minutes. These nuisance fires are tying up our appliances in the case of a serious incident."
Mr Cubbins added: "These derelict sites are dangerous and hazardous. Someone could end up in hospital."
