A MISSILE maker with a Lostock base has been shortlisted for a major UK manufacturing award.
MBDA is partly owned by BAE Systems and makes missile systems for the Royal Navy and RAF, such as the Storm Shadow long range missile used in the Iraq conflict.
The firm's Lostock site, in Hall Lane, employs 260 people and manufactures a missile system used by Royal Navy warships.

MBDA at Lostock is one of three UK sites that have collectively been shortlisted for the Institute of Mechanical Engineers' Manufacturing Excellence Award for 2008.
MBDA is among 20 UK manufacturing finalists in the awards and is competing against the likes of Rolls Royce and Preston-based Leyland Trucks.
Lisa Kean, marketing support manager for the North-west's Manufacturing Advisory Service, said: "We are delighted that MBDA has made it through to the final.
"The firm is a shining example of manufacturing excellence - demonstrating efficiency, innovation and fantastic development of its staff.
