Award for Middlebrook's Greenest Heroes project

MIDDLEBROOK has beaten more than 120 shopping centres around the UK to a retail award.

The retail park clinched the Purple Apple award for environmentally friendly activity for its Greenest Heroes Campaign, run in conjunction with The Bolton News last year. The campaign was aimed at encouraging Bolton to think greener and get involved in recycling.

Judges praised the campaign for engaging the local community in a fun and innovative initiative.

Heather Ingham, spokesman for Middlebrook, said: "A generous thank you must go to The Bolton News for engaging the community in the campaign, and gaining recognition for the scheme nationally."
