MY CARD: Julie Connolly, Deputy Chief Executive, Alliance Learning

What was your first job? My first job was a local paper round when I was 13-years-old, but my first proper job when I left school was as an office junior.

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?

That would be Richard Branson, he changed my views on management and innovation.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy swimming and watching Wigan Athletic - should I be admitting this to The Bolton News?

What's your top time-saving tip?

Never put off until tomorrow, what you could do today.

What is your favourite thing about Bolton and why?

Without a doubt, the people. I have worked in Bolton for 17 years and I think they have just about accepted me, despite the fact I come from Wigan.

Which past event has most influenced your life and why?

Gaining my degree in management at the age of 39 and seeing my dad's face when I wore my cap and gown.

What is the one piece of advice you would pass on to/have passed on to your children?

Always have dreams and strive for them, one day they may come true!

How would you describe yourself in a personal ad?

Shy!

What does your typical working day involve?

I get up at 6.15am and get to work for 7.45am. I work with an organisation that delivers training to a wide range of people, some of who, like me, thought they couldn't do it when they started out. It is something I find extremely rewarding.
