Business Awards 2008
Imran backs our awards

IMRAN Hakim is a former two-times winner at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards.

In 2006 he was judged Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Mikah Eyewear, part of his Optometry business, while in 2007 he scooped the Technology, Design and Innovation Award for his newly-developed iTeddy.

This year he has decided to sponsor the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award following his subsequent success with iTeddy.

Mr Hakim has taken the step because he believes the awards are a great way to bring the Bolton and Bury business community together and give young business people a helping hand. He said: "The award wins we had gave us a great sense of achievement and encouraged us to want to go out and do it again in a bigger and better way, that's how we have progressed during the past three or four years.

"It's great to see individuals in Bolton, who are successful in business being recognised for their achievements."

Mr Hakim's victory last year was summed up at the time by Mark Worsley of category sponsor CLB Coopers. He said: "We felt Imran demonstrated true entrepreneurship in his ability to dream big and turn his vision into reality."
