Puzzled by a ghostly lunch

9:12am Monday 21st April 2008

By Alan Calvert »

ON the way to our bed and breakfast accommodation for our weekend break, we stopped off at a National Trust property - Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley.

Do I believe in ghosts?

Of course not, but as I was eating my lunch in the café I felt a distinct light touch on my right shoulder and I turned round to see who it was. There was nobody there and nobody near enough to have touched me and moved on.

Later I discovered that the house is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman whose son died 400 years ago in tragic circumstances.
