HERE is a short item in appreciation of the hard work parents put in when raising young children.
Grandma and Granddad Calvert took charge of Lucy (four and a half) and Emma (six months) while mum and dad went away for a welcome weekend break with friends.
It involved a broken night's sleep and a start to the new day around 6am.
By the time our shift ended in mid-afternoon on the Sunday we were exhausted and well aware that looking after children seemed a lot easier when we were younger.
Great fun, though.
