TURTON Tower is one of the jewels in the area's historical crown and it is vital that we keep it open.
Financing it has become a worrying issue in the past couple of years and a campaign has been running to save the tower, originally built in 1420. Now, it is getting local authority help and has a very active group of supporters organising fundraising events.
Its future is more optimistic but it's not out of the woods yet so, please, if you get the chance, do help. It's a direct link with our past and steeped in local history - it would be a tragedy to lose it for future generations.
