Kate back on top of the fashion pack

IT'S good to see Kate Moss back at the top of the style stakes where she belongs.

Surely it can't be a coincidence that when the supermodel was dating skanky Pete Doherty her fashion sense - and reputation - slipped somewhat.

Now she is settled with the equally rock and roll, but far more sensible-seeming, Jamie Hince, Queen Kate has regained her fashion crown.

Moss wannabe Sienna Miller was also in the top five, so it seems that the incident when she turned up to a film premiere in a pair of gym knickers has been forgotten.

But let's face it, no-one can replace Mossy in the hearts of the British fashion pack. Miller may have tried, and much has been made of Northern lass Agyness Deyn, yet one has to wonder whether their clothes will still be inspiring Topshop 20 years from now.

With her slightly imperfect face and ability to look as good in vintage shop finds as she does in haute couture, Kate Moss has been defining what women under the age of 40 have been wearing on Britain's streets for years.

Unlike Agyness Deyn's aggressive haircut, or Sienna Miller's underwear-as-outerwear fashion statements, Moss's style is accessible and adaptable.

She can't act or sing, and wisely rarely gives interviews, but when it comes to choosing clothes, Kate Moss deserves to be number one.
