Megson's done a great job

GARY Megson has been an unmitigated success as manager of Bolton Wanderers.

The keyboard army who constantly attack him with words of mass destruction are unlikely to think so.

But you can only judge people on results, and Megson has delivered by keeping Wanderers up which was his one and only brief when he arrived.

Two tips for him for next season: keep it up and don't read the internet.

Absolutely spot on there Neil.
I sometimes read the comments and wonder what criteria some people use to judge the Manager.
"Unmitigated success" would adequately describe the transformation since Mr.Megson took over.

a couple of lucky results and the Mugster is a world beater, I paid the best part of £1000 for season tickets this season to watch his unque style of dull defensive football. if i dare to criticse him i'm not a true fan.
We need a change or it's another drab season for the whites

Drab!!
I dont think most fans would describe a season that took us through the full range of emotions as drab.If I were you I'd try finding another sport to watch which fulfils the excitement that's missing in your life.

I would describe a season that saw us move from feared to laughing stock in 8 months as a disgrace.

He hasn't been a success. We're almost certainly going to finish the season on 36 points. In other seasons that would have been enough to be relegated. His 'success' has only been that there's been enough teams even worse.

36 points will also be our worst points haul since we last got promoted (40,44,53,58,56,56), and would have had us relegated in 2003 and 2007 and hanging on by goal difference in 2002). So let's not give him the keys to the city just yet?

Oh and when we last got relegated on goal difference against Everton, we had 40 points.

36 points is not an "unmitigated success".

, I wouldn’t use the word success. Don’t forget that when Megson took over from Lee he had the same players that Lee had left behind, these players were demoralised and looked beaten, down and out. He did at least try to give the players the belief and confidence in themselves and this is exactly what he did, his mistakes was letting Bolton’s best player (NICO) go for 15 million his next mistake was not buying a player near or equal to Nico and the others were putting up with players who did not perform on the day and if they had put there mind into the job at hand instead of looking after number one they might have done a lot better.
