PLENTY has been said about how daft it is that two English teams have to travel to Moscow for the Champions League Final.
Many people have advocated switching next week's game to Wembley Stadium to make life easier for the estimated 50,000 fans who will travel.
Similarly, it was suggested that last night's UEFA Cup Final should have been moved from Manchester City to Manchester United's stadium to accommodate another 25,000 Rangers fans.
Both ideas are sensible, but non-starters because the debates started far too late.
Only after it was realised that two from Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool would reach the Champions League final, and Rangers got through to the UEFA Cup Final, did the British media and fans start banging on about the inconvenience of it all.
No-one said anything of the sort when two Italian teams played the 2003 Champions League Final in England.
We were quite happy to have Juventus and AC Milan teams and fans come to England because it's an honour for a country to stage the biggest club game in the world and it beefed up our interest having it over here.
It is wrong that United and Chelsea fans have to spend so much in time and money when they could go down the road to Wembley where many more of them would be able to see the game. But there's no point starting talking about it after it's all been organised.
A better time would have been in 2000 when Spanish sides Real Madrid and Valencia played the Champions League Final in Paris.
If we'd have moaned then, instead of being so insular, maybe next week's ridiculous situation wouldn't have happened.
