A MOTHER who failed to ensure her daughter attended school has been fined by magistrates.
The court heard that Christa Jones's six-year-old daughter had missed 18 days at St Simon and St Jude's primary school between September last year and January this year, in addition to time off because of illness.
Jones, aged 28, of Woodfield Street, Great Lever, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure her daughter attended school regularly.

She told magistrates that she was ill with depression and found it hard to get up in time to take the child to school. But she added that her life was now more organised with help from social workers and family support, and that her daughter was now at school regularly.
She was fined £100 and ordered to pay £43 costs plus the £15 victim support surcharge.
