Health boss honoured at the Palace
AN IMPORTANT figure in Bolton's health service has received her MBE from the Prince of Wales.
Pam Senior, chairman of Bolton's Primary Care Trust, was named in the New Year's honours list for her services to healthcare and the community.
The former biomedical scientist travelled to Buckingham Palace yesterday to receive her MBE from Prince Charles.
Mrs Senior said: "I feel that this award gives national recognition for all the hard work and commitment of PCT staff towards improving the health and wellbeing of Bolton people.
"I was proud to accept it on that basis and to say thank you to my family for all the support they have given me over the years."
Mrs Senior was appointed chairman of the PCT when it was formed in 2001 and has lived in Bolton for 30 years.
Anna Basford, chief executive of Bolton PCT, said: "We are delighted at this recognition of Pam's significant contribution to the community of Bolton. The honour is very well deserved."
Mrs Senior has served on Bolton Council, been a member of several school governing bodies and is an Honorary fellow of the University of Bolton. She has also worked with the former North West Regional Health Authority and the Greater Manchester Ambulance Service.
Other figures picking up their honours yesterday included designer Jasper Conran, who collected his OBE, and Nicholas Kenyon, former director of the BBC Proms, who was Knighted. London's Barbican Centre, who received a Knighthood.
