University of Bolton
Planned flats will be home to 119 students
PLANS have been submitted to build state-of-the-art student flats for the University of Bolton.
A "cluster" of apartments will be built within walking distance to the university, at the junction of Fletcher Street and Houghton Street, near the town centre.
The 10 blocks of flats will house 119 students. The plans have been submitted by Anyna International Litd, based in the Seychelles.
Plans have already been announced to expand the university as part of the "Bolton Innovation Zone" - a £300 million project to transform the heart of the town and create 20,000 jobs.
The 10-year plan will see not only the university expanded and refurbished, but will also improve Bolton's public transport network and retail and leisure opportunities.
A Cultural Quarter will be also created around Le Mans Crescent.
The university has recently been announced as the site of a £10.6 million health and leisure centre, which will contain a range of services and a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool.
A decision on the student flat plans is expected to be made by Bolton Council's planning committee in July.
