IT is almost time to adjust your television set - as the date for digital TV switchover approaches.

The switchover from analogue to digital TV signals is planned in the Granada region for 2009 - but what does it mean for you?

Do you have questions about the type of equipment you will need and will all your current television sets need converting?

Will you need a new aerial, what help is available to make the switch and what does it mean for radio?

If you have not got a digital box for your existing analogue set or sets, then your screen or screens will go blank on the day the signal changes to digital.

Age Concern Bolton and Digital UK are inviting the over-50s to drop in to their Digital Switchover Open Day on Tuesday, March 11 at the Walker Suite, Victoria Halls in Knowsley Street, Bolton, where all their questions and many more will be answered.

Three talks, at 10.30 am, 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm, are planned while the rest of the day (between 10.00 and 4.30 pm) will feature an open surgery session so that you can put your own particular questions relating to digital TV switchover to the representatives from Digital UK.

The presentations and open session are free of charge.

Older people attending any one of the free sessions at the Victoria Halls will have a chance of winning a free Digital Set top box by registering their name and address in the week leading up to and including the March 11. Simply visit Age Concern's café at Ashburner Street and leave your details at reception in the box provided.

l Digital UK is the not for profit organisation tasked with leading digital TV switchover and ensuring that people have the right information and equipment for when their region switches to digital TV.

For any queries about digital TV switchover, call the Digital UK Helpline on 0845 6 50 50 50 or visit their website: www.digitaluk.co.uk.

For any queries about the free information sessions contact Harold Heywood at Age Concern Bolton on 01204 701525.
