Welcome to our new look for The Bolton News website.

If you are a regular visitor, then the site will seem a bit different and you may want to take time to explore the pages and get used to the new look and feel.

As part of its makeover, the website can now bring you a richer mix of pictures, audio and video to supplement the strengths of The Bolton News in print.

And this is not the end - we are continuing to try to improve the site, so any constructive comment is appreciated.

The navigation of the site has been changed - the sections are now listed across the top of the page, rather than down the left-hand side.

You will find weather, live traffic information and what's on information on every page of the website, either at the top or in the right-hand column.

The forum and letters have moved into a section called Your Say.

You may find that some sections have moved, while others may not be working as you expect as we try to fix any bugs.

Please alert us to any problems or queries by posting your comments in the box below.

Am currently looking out over the fire at Armstrong plant. I live on Sandringham road, and believe the smoke is travelling for miles. It has now been burning for some 8 hours or more and is a real concern as to what toxic fumes are emitting from it. Local people have campaigned against this huge rubbish dump for a long time now and nothing has been done. Time Ruth Kelly started earning her money and listened to us. Amazingly: just when we need the environment people....they are on stike. In such an emergency should they not have temporarily called off the strike? I cannot believe that our local council allows this kind of filth to be inflicted on its rate payers. Must be money in it for them! The whole town is outraged. Will :Armstrongs: finally be got rid of? Someone must be brought to book for this injustice, and soon. An investigation at government level at the least. As I conclude: the billowing smoke from the tip seems to be increasing. It is beyond belief that such a thing be allowed to happen in this lovely town.It must NEVER be allowed again.this_

New Site: Looks good. You'll find that there will be some detractors but there always are when there is a change to the familiar.

I have two requests:

Firstly: Please can you add a link to the the Letters section to the main menu bar. I know that you can get there via "Your Say" but a direct link would be nice just to maintain consistency with the old site. (Also, ditto the Editorials Section).

Secondly: Please actively moderate the site to keep the neanderthals, morons and racists away. Please make sure that there's sensisble debate only.

I am now having second thoughts - maybe "Letters" is fine where it is listed under "Your Say".

However, this menu also has options for "Columnists" and "Comment". Presumably the entries in these sections are written by BN staff. It would seem therefore that these options are located incorrectly and need to be in their own section of the site

Sorry, but I appear to be on a roll this morning:

An "Edit" function would be really, really nice.
