A PUB that became a magnet for underage drinkers after being flagged up on Facebook has been banned from trading and shut for three months.

Young people, many still at school, flocked to the Queens Head in Lee Lane, Horwich, after word spread on the social networking site that staff would serve them with alcohol.

A licensing hearing at Bolton Town Hall was told that the pub’s popularity with teen binge-drinkers caused months of misery for residents.

They saw young drunks urinating and vomiting in their gardens, vandalising property and brawling outside their homes.

A police raid sparked by the trouble revealed traces of cocaine in the women’s toilets and staff selling alcohol to under-18s.

Yesterday, councillors suspended the pub’s license for three-months after owners Scottish and Newcastle vowed to appoint a ‘trouble-shooter’ to clean up its act.

This used to be one of Horwich's better pubs, sad to see it close though I haven't been in for years.

I'm not surprised this pub has been sailing close to the wind for some time now. Well to be honest (The Queens Head isnt the only pub in town to break the rules, there are other guilty places even in Bolton town centre) What are they thinking of, serving youngsters for crying out loud (Who the hecks, running this pub, could it have been a chav). Most of the guys I knew in there were sort of ok a bit judgemental of any stranger or someone who used to go in but doesnt now. To be blunt serving kids strong ale and cider and spirits isnt the way too go though. Hope this pub cleans up its act and the rest follow suit, theres not enough checks on these pubs anyway, they'd let anyone in now as long as they've got the dough. Sad really but these times are tough now for all pubs everywhere. I dont bother with them now, theres too many yobs in these places now anyway. All they want to do is kick the hell out of you or worse stil rob and stab you. Its not safe these days to have a quite drink.

Why not list these offending pubs rather then allowing them to get away with serving brats?

Can someone from TBN advise where we can report such "establishments"?

I have been around this area having a pint and it wasnt just this pub that served 1 or 2 underage , lots of them do for some reason as i was told, that local reseidents have been wanting this pub closed for years, why live move next to a pub if you dont like noise i say, but it seems that they set up there own cctv and pointed it at the pub,to capture anything that may happen, what sad people im told.Well yes certain things did happen as they do around pubs and if used by students who only a few were under age.The residents got there own way but i ask myself why move next to a pub that has been there for over 100years, begars belief.

Not quite sure what you are trying to say, but yes I agree that the pub was there long before some residents, but its only in the last 3 years that its opened longer and only since January that the Horwich halfwits descended upon it.
Well done to the residents and the Police for at least doing more than those who condone under age problems and expect others to solve the problem.
