Apprentice star Alex helps young DJs on air

BUDDING DJs have started training ahead of the launch of a community radio station later this month.

Hulton Lane FM is the latest in a series of community radio stations to be jointly funded by Bolton at Home and Bolton Council.

Volunteers met yesterday to begin their training for the broadcast, which will be based at Wally’s Youth Club in Eldercot Road, Deane, from August 27 to August 30. It will run for 24 hours a day and include music, news and debates.

And Apprentice star Alex Wotherspoon dropped in to offer his support for the station.

His brother, Oliver, will be presenting the morning programme and has persuaded Alex to appear as a special guest on his last show.

Alex said: “I think the radio station is a fantastic way of bringing the local community together around the Wally’s Centre. I’m looking forward to joining Oliver for his final show.”

The station will open to the public on Saturday, August 30, with activities, sporting tournaments, entertainment and prizes.
