Helen set for a special Fright Night

8:10pm Wednesday 6th August 2008

MUM Helen Richards is set to fulfil her lifetime desire — to become a ghostbuster.

The avid fan of satellite TV Living channel’s Most Haunted will spend a night in Bolton’s spookiest building.

It is an ambition Mrs Richards, aged 38, of Gellert Road, Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, thought she would never have the opportunity to fulfil because she suffers from the debilitating condition fibromyalgia.

There is no cure for the condition and she relies on medication, including morphine to manage the pain.

Wheelchair-bound Mrs Richards, a former healthcare assistant, will join other ghostbusters and spend a night in Smithills Hall, on Friday, September, 19, with paranormal investigators to raise money for the Royal Bolton Hospital in a Fright Night event, organised by the MedEquip4Kids charity.

Mrs Richards, who lives in said: “I am so interested in paranormal activities. There was a chance for me to go to a filming of Most Haunted, but because it was in London and because of my condition I knew the travelling would take it out of me.”

Instead, Mrs Richards will be given the chance to use special equipment and will be joined by guest medium Ian Lawman, who has been featured on the programme.

Mrs Richards will be accompanied by her sister-in-law Carol Kirkman for the Fright Night.
