CHILDREN in Bolton celebrating the religious month of Ramadhan can enjoy a series of play sessions next month starting on Monday Bolton Council is organising fun activities for Muslim children who would normally miss out due to their attendance at a mosque most evenings.
But during Ramadhan they will not have to go because it is a religious holiday and instead can enjoy the activities on offer.
Sessions will be held until September 26, between 4pm and 6pm at: Heywood Playworld, Heywood Park, High Street, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Alexandra Children’s Centre, Blackledge Street, Thursdays and Fridays; Astley Hall Community Centre, Astley Street (off Blackburn Road), Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The activities during Ramadhan follow a successful summer programme by the council’s play service, which has kept more than 3,400 four to 13-year-olds busy.
Clr Ismail Ibrahim, executive member for culture, young people and sport, said: “It’s a great idea to run play sessions during Ramadhan as this addresses a need within the Muslim community.”
